Breguet Emerald Classique
The Breguet Classique reference BA8241 E 106D is an exquisite example of the maison’s high-jewelry watchmaking from the 1990s, combining Breguet’s unmistakable classical codes with an unusually decorative emerald and diamond-set design. Crafted in 18k yellow gold and measuring 25mm, the watch features a finely detailed silver dial with black Roman numerals, surrounded by a brilliant diamond-set bezel. Most distinctive are the baguette-cut emeralds positioned at the top and bottom of the case, creating a striking contrast against the diamonds and warm yellow gold. Finished with an elegant multi-row gold chain-link bracelet, the piece sits beautifully between traditional watchmaking and fine jewelry.
Excellent vintage condition
Breguet’s aesthetic has always been rooted in a remarkably consistent set of design codes: refined proportions, engine-turned dials, Roman numerals, and the instantly recognizable open-tipped hands associated with the maison. During the late 20th century, Breguet translated these classical elements into increasingly elaborate jewelry watches, pairing traditional watchmaking with precious stones and intricately constructed gold bracelets.
This reference is a particularly beautiful expression of that approach. At its center is a silver dial featuring a finely textured guilloché-style center, black Roman numerals, and signature blued Breguet hands. The restrained, historically inspired dial provides an elegant counterpoint to the richness of the surrounding case.
The jewelry work is what truly distinguishes the piece. A full diamond-set bezel frames the dial, while the upper and lower sections of the case are pavé-set with additional diamonds and punctuated by rectangular baguette-cut emeralds. Their deep green color creates a dramatic jewel-toned accent against the yellow gold, giving the otherwise classical watch a far more unexpected and glamorous character.
Completing the design is an intricate 18k yellow gold multi-row chain-link bracelet, which gives the watch the fluidity and presence of a fine bracelet rather than a conventional timepiece. Inside, a manually wound movement allows the watch to retain the delicate proportions and mechanical character associated with traditional Breguet watchmaking.
Preserved in excellent vintage condition, the Breguet BA8241 E 106D is a wonderfully distinctive example of the maison’s jewelry watches. With its diamond-set case, striking baguette emerald accents, classical Breguet dial, and beautifully articulated gold bracelet, it combines the house’s historic design language with the exuberance of late-20th-century high jewelry.
